Movement through tantrums

This morning was one of those parenting days. My youngest twin (by 9 minutes) screamed and refused to agree to any part of getting ready for school. The reasoning… her counterpart was missing school today. Upon hearing this news my youngest lost all use of her limbs. Then upon miraculously regaining use of her limbs, was only able to do snow angels on the floor. Spilled drinks and breakfast. Clothing protests. Big emotions.
Here's the thing that got me through it: I didn’t try to fix anything and just focused on getting my steps in.
No profound instantaneously accessible parenting strategy.
Just:
-Pace the kitchen while putting together lunches.
-Walk to their school with them.
-Walk the long way home from drop-off.
-Just walk as much as possible and focus on the calm.
Parenting doesn't always give you clean wins. Some days the win is just: I kept moving, and that was enough. If you're in a hard stretch right now sometimes the smallest, simplest habit is holding it all together. For me some days, it is step count.
